Sri Narahari Seva Pratishthana
When we look around us today, we see two trends of real concern.
First, there is a growing shift towards materialism, where the timeless values and principles of Sanathana Dharma that always guided our way of life are gradually being compromised.
Second, there is an increasing indifference to the hardships faced by the underprivileged in our society.
Divinity through Service
Now, more than ever, there is a pressing need to revive and sustain the noble traditions of Sanathana Dharma as well as to nurture a deep sense of compassion towards our fellow human beings. These two ideals are closely connected and have formed the inspiration for the establishment of this Trust.
Sri Narahari Seva Pratisthana (SNSP) which translates to “Sri Narahari Service Foundation” is inspired by the legends of the Sri Narahari Sadguru Sampradayam who were scholarly spiritual masters as well as exemplary leaders of community service. They led very noble lives, beautifully blending spiritual wisdom (Paramartha) with a sincere and dignified discharge of worldly responsibilities and community service (Prapancha). The SNSP Trust is founded on the principle that they believed in: service to humanity is service to the Divine. Through selfless service, we seek to experience and realize divinity.
The Trust is established in Narahari Nagara, located on the outskirts of Challakere (Chitradurga District), along the Challakere–Hiriyur state highway. This sacred place is named after Sri Narahari Sadguru (1959-1929) who inspired thousands of devotees and students towards a service minded life. The place is blessed by the presence of the Sri Narahareshwara Temple, established in 1980 by *Parama Pujyasri Simhadri Sadguru and Matrusri Nagavenamma. The tireless and compassionate service rendered by this noble couple to thousands of devotees continues to inspire the mission of this Trust.
The trust operates through voluntary contributions and community participation — aspiring to grow into a model institution dedicated to selfless service and the welfare of society.
The current activities of the trust include
- Nitya Anna Danam (free food distribution) everyday
- Medical Camps for increasing awareness (once every six months)
- Pratibha Puraskara – an annual event to celebrate and encourage high performing students in the vicinity, from all sections of the society
- Competitions in recitation of heritage texts such as Srimad Bhagavadgita to school children
- Nitya Prarthana and Nitya Puja in the Sri Narahareshwara Temple
- Cultural and Heritage Events to inspire people from all communities
- Organize similar activities in other centres of the trust in Chitradurga, Shivamogga, Utta Kannada, Ballari, Anantapaur, and Bengaluru districts
